We already have a nice team of gamers who volunteered to test the Argatoria game. Over 30 testers are a very good number, so now we can introduce rules and test them together. Those who have already played the first rules probably already know that the game has a very interesting mechanics. One of the most important rules is a dynamic activation. After winning the Initiative, the player rolls a d6 for his army, and the result tells him how many units he can activate. Let’s say that a player rolled 4 on a d6. This means that he can choose 4 units and activate them. Then his opponent rolls. The second player could get for example 2. This means that he can activate two units. This process continues until all units are activated. In Argatoria, you don’t wait for the opponent to make moves with the whole army – the game is dynamic! And thanks to the ability of Generals to issue orders, you have the chance to activate one selected unit again. It can surprise be very surprising!
…it’s time for new games!
Working on Umbra Turris has never been easy. This is our first project of this type – we studied it and made a lot of mistakes. Completing the current version of the rules was a matter of setting a new direction for future Spellcrow publications. Currently Umbra Turris skirmish game has 4 supplements and now we are starting to work on other games embedded in this universe. One of them is the Argatoria battle game, which shows the great armies and their war struggle with enemies. Work on the rules is ongoing and will be completed within a few months. We release new miniatures and models for Argatoria. In the meantime, you’ll discover other games that will bring you closer to the universe and provide a lot of entertainment. Meet first four races that you can command in the Argatoria Battle Game. Each of them has its own unique abilities and access to special units. Armies have different schemes, which is why Arox and Sorgax will be completely different. Similarly with Dirandis and Vaendral, so it is worth considering well which army you will command in the endless fields of Argatoria.
During the weekend, we hosted Miloš and Ignacy from The Node, who tested the Argatoria rules. Another version of the rules was tested with the dynamic activation of units, a new test of Cold Blood and an extraordinary fall back solution. There were many interesting conversations and we definitely have to do such meetings more often.
Last week was almost all about working on the rules! That’s why anyone who volunteered for testing will receive a PDF file this week.
On Friday, June 21, the new Quest supplement will go on sale! You will find there 18 Quest Cards and sets of Hidden and Death Counters – one set of each. The cards have gained a new look on both sides, referring to the packaging. The back of the cards is now largely red, thanks to which it clearly stands out from the emerald Item Cards and brown Terrain Cards.
The great packaging of UT supplements has just started! In the picture you can see: Magic, Terrain and Quest. Each of them contains cards and special add-ons like minis or counters. You can already purchase the Magic supplement at our webstore. The premiere of Quest is scheduled for June 21. July 5 – premiere of the Terrain supplement. July 19 – premiere of the Haunted Moor supplement. August 9 is the probable release date of Strange Lands, but due to the summer break in the printing house, this date may change slightly. We encourage all clubs to write to us – we have special sets for you that will help you quickly learn the game and see the miniatures!
On Sunday, we visited Dębowa Tarcza Wargaming Club in Warsaw. We met many interesting people, we saw wonderful terrains and we played a skirmish in Umbra Turris. The Battle Square terrain card has been drawn, so we had one Loot. Halfling from the Pilgrims of Darkness party got there and, as a result of Loot Test, he came into possession of an interesting card. From that moment the fight was really fierce! Despite the quest with Vestal and Little Buddy, the skirmish ended spectacularly. Orc Headhunter performed the Precision Strike. As a result, he was able to deal a Critical Strike. The Headhunter’s rule is that if he brings the enemy to 0 Wounds, the opponent must immediately perform the Panic Test. With two 1s Emissaries of Tykatrion couldn’t make it. They ran far, far away, and the Pilgrims of Darkness celebrated until midnight. It was a great meeting, so we invite you to visit Dębowa Tarcza as well!
